Keeping a house plant alive can be a difficult task for some; however, drawing one doesn’t have to be hard at all. Grow your knowledge for drawing this subject by starting with a few simple shapes.
Step 1: Draw an ellipse for the base of the pot. Draw another for the top. Add a rim to the top by following the contour as shown.

Step 2: Connect the top and bottom ellipses with curved lines to form the sides of the plant pot. Draw curved lines for stems/leaves coming from top ellipse.

Step 3: Add more stems/leaves to fill the pot.

Step 4: Add a light layer of tone to entire plant and pot, using more pressure inside the top ellipse to create a darker tone.

Step 5: Add dimension by choosing one side of the pot and gradually adding darker tone to it. The upper rim of pot should have a slightly darker tone under it for shadow. The leaves should be darker in their centers and lighter around the perimeter of each one.

Extra time: Darken some of the darker tones to create more contrast. Blend to smooth the tones. Use a kneaded eraser to highlight the edges of the leaves.
