There are over 40,000 species of spiders and they all spin silk. One spider can produce up to seven different types, each used for a different purpose. Add some interest to your spider drawing and include a web with a captured prey!
Step 1: Start with three circles that touch: a small head, medium thorax, and large abdomen. Think of a sideways snowman!

Step 2:Using long lines, draw four legs on each side of the body. They should not be perfectly straight.

Step 3: Lightly shade the whole spider. Darken and thicken the leg lines, having them taper inward to be much leaner at the ends.

Step 4: Blend tones to smooth them. Add more tone around segments of legs and close to the rounded ends of abdomen. Use a kneaded eraser to lighten the outer curves and center of abdomen and sides of thorax.

Step 5: Darken leg and body part segments even more. Blend tones and use eraser to highlight the lighter areas for more contrast.
