1-Start with a circle head, dashed lines as a guide for the spring and two small diamond shapes as shown.
2-Draw lines that fan out from head as shown. Connect the two diamond bottom with three slightly angled lines as shown. Leave a small corner on each side.
3-Add a curve at top of head for hat. Draw a curvy line touching the fanned out lines drawn in step 2.Erase the dashed line areas at base.
4-Add circles for eyes, another curve to for the hat and lines undereath the ruffle drawn in step 3.Erase dashed area at hat line.Lines connecting ruffle detail.
5-Add pupils to eyes, a circle for the cheek and a circle for the chin.
6-Draw curves for the hat, erase triangle from the eye and add a spring coil.Add nose.Erase dashed areas on head.
Coil looks like a simple fish shape.
7-Draw curves underneath the hat curves drawn in last step. Add another fish shape and connect the chin and cheek to the face as shown.Add lines to nose.
8-Add circles of varying sizes to the hat tips, connect the two “fish” shapes and draw another, smaller fish shape underneath those.Connection looks like this.
9-Draw “X” shapes on hat circles, draw 5 a smile and eyebrows and connect “fish” shaped coils. Add another “fish”.
10- Add design to hat brim and draw tooth, eyebrow and lip details.Add more coils to spring.Draw box handle.
11-Finish drawing coils and erase original 5 dashed guideline completely.
12-Add more details as desired including hat dots, fuzzy hair, a box lid, shading on the backside of the coils and motion ripples/lines.
