The moon is the Earth’s only natural satellite and is in synchronous rotation with Earth, meaning the same side is always facing the Earth. Draw this glowing version as seen from the tree tops.
STEP 1-Draw a circle with a jagged line below it (this line will be silhouettes of trees later).

STEP 2-Add some back and forth scribble lines using the edge of the pencil inside the moon for texture.

STEP 3-Using the edge of the pencil, add a ring of tone around the circle, keeping it light near the outline, gradually getting darker as tone moves away from the circle. Blend tones in moon.

STEP 4-Fill in the reminder of the area around the moon with dark tone. Fill in the silhouetted tree area as well, using heavy pressure to make it darker than the sky.

STEP 5-Erase areas on one side of each tree silhouette closest to the moon. Erase around rim of moon for a glow effect. Blend sky so it is smooth.

Extra time: Add more contrast. Spend time darkening the dark areas and make the light areas even lighter, concentrating on removing the original moon outline so it moves seamlessly into the sky.
