Hello up there! Have you been longing to practice creating patterns? With a few lines and scribbles, this tutorial will have you drawing the earth’s tallest land animal in a short time!
Step 1: Start with a small egg shape for the head, a large circle for the front of the body, followed by an oval touching it for the rear. Connect head and body with a long line.

Step 2: Draw horns (ossicones), snout, and back side of neck (notice the small hump). Connect circle and oval with a short line to create the back. Draw a line for the tail, belly, and fronts of each leg.

Step 3: Add small curve for chin, backs of the legs, and a hoof shape at the ends of the legs. Add some hair to the tail.

Step 4: Erase parts of original guidelines of the body that are no longer needed. Quickly lay down a light layer of tone all over the body. Add eye, nostril, ears, and mane.

Step 5: Blend tones with finger or blending tool to smooth them. Darken any areas that have lost contrast. Erase areas on center of neck and legs for highlight. Add highlight to face as well.

Step 6: Using a quick back-and-forth motion, scribble a pattern of spots on top of the giraffe. Spots are larger on the neck and front part of the body and can be drawn smaller on the hind quarters and legs.

Extra time: More spots! Fill in pattern to darken it and reshape some of the spots to fit closer together but not touch. Add a highlight in the eye.
