Roosters are larger, usually more brightly colored, and have larger combs on top of their heads compared to hens. Use the techniques in this tutorial that can help with drawing any bird.
Step 1: Draw a small circle for the head and a larger oval for the body. Connect with a curve. It should resemble the number “6”.

Step 2: Add an oval shape attached to the bottom/side of the head (for the waddle), a 1/2 oval under the body, and curve that touches the bottom of the body and the side of that 1/2 oval. Draw two lines where the legs will be.

Step 3: Add zig-zag lines at the top of the head for the comb, a beak, and eye on the head, and curves for tail feathers Complete the legs by adding V-shape toes.

Step 4: Quickly fill in the rooster to add a light tone. Press harder on chest, under tail feathers, and under the waddle. Try to follow the contours of the body.

Step 5: Add more pressure to dark areas for more contrast. Blend tones gently but not too much so that the individual lines can still be seen. Use a kneaded eraser to remove pigment around waddle, tops of toes, tops of tail feathers, and on comb and face.
